What role has fragrance played in your life?
For my 16th birthday I got Chanel No. 5 from my grandmother and that was a big deal. It was way too heavy for me, but I treasured it. Then there was Lou Lou by Cacharel when I was 18. But then it took a long time until I found something that I felt smelled like me. For many years I used White Musk by the Body Shop.
Was there a character that you wanted to emulate when you were doing the shoot for the ad campaign?
I honestly wanted it to look like me or the best version of myself. I wanted to portray the seductiveness I would like to have when I’m in an intimate moment. There needed to be an emotion and I wanted it to be soft.
What is your beauty routine in the morning?
I use Cetaphil which I love, and a cream by L’Oreal called Triple Active Day,
Police Sunglasses, which is really light because I have very intolerant skin. I also love to use Kiehl’s toner. And cover-up because I have bad under eye veins from my Polish grandmother.
Would you ever consider designing your own line or capsule collection?
No. Maybe one piece with Karl or someone I love, but I don’t think I would be a good designer.
Who do you look to for style inspiration?
I actually get inspired a lot by movies or the way a character is designed by costume designers. Like with Inglorious Bastards, I definitely overdid the red lipstick for way too long! Also,
converse shoes, I have a 16 year old Parisian god daughter who is very chic and I got the idea to do the blue eyeliner last night from looking at her Facebook page.
LOS ANGELES–Avid Fashionista readers know that our love for Diane Kruger’s red carpet style knows no bounds. So we were delighted to attend an intimate seated lunch on Tuesday in the Palm Room at the Four Seasons Hotel in honor of Ms. Kruger and the new fragrance Calvin Klein Beauty. The actress/model is the face of the brand.
The lunch was really a double celebration. The night before, donning a bright pink Calvin Klein dress, Kruger was honored at the Elle’s Women in Hollywood Awards among such esteemed actresses like Diane Keaton,
Sass This – Fashionista Fashion Industry News, Designers, Runway Shows, Style Advice,
Basketball Jerseys, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson.
What was your first fashion splurge?
When I started modeling, my first big purchase was a Chanel bag. But my biggest purchase,
DC Hats,

Special Edition Sunglasses, was my Hermes Constance bag. I had been dreaming about it since I was 18.
Beauty is Calvin Klein’s first floral fragrance and draws upon the scent of a calla lily. Translation: It’s light and feminine. Kruger says she truly loves the fragrance and took many months of consideration before signing onto the project, smelling samples and living with it for a while to see if she really liked it. She also loves the print ads, shot by Craig McDean. “I recognize myself in the portrait,

Wearing a purple cardigan belted over her navy Calvin Klein shift dress, Kruger spent a leisurely lunch with us and graciously answered all our beauty and fashion inquiries. Below are some of her current fashion favorites and beauty secrets:
What is your current favorite piece in your closet?
DK: Probably this cashmere blanket I have from Philip Lim. I’ve been using it a lot for travel and I love it.
