When it was long, even hairspray made it look gross, but now the more product the better. So far, I’ve been using the Tigi curls rock amplifier cream (because it came in the Chris Kane tote at his show) and Sebastian hairspray (because it came in Henry Holland’s gift bags once). But if I had to pick one, it’d be Bumble and bumble’s Surf Spray.
They hate it. A few say, “it really depends on the girl,Mulberry Bayswater,” but they all agree that if they were dating a girl with long hair and she cut it short,Mulberry HOBO, they’d be kind of bummed.
What’s the other big change? The way straight men react to short hair.
For one thing, I don’t have to wash it everyday. And the dirtier it gets,Mulberry Cross Body Bags, the better it looks.
In junior high, I was obsessed with the idea of consistently beachy waves. My mom, who wouldn’t buy her 13-year-old $22 hair product (rightly so), convinced me that it was just sea salt and water so we bought a spray bottle and made it — which did nothing to my hair except make it wet. But now I can spend my own money on Surf Spray and it’s like magic. My hair looks and feels like it does after a day at the beach, without the sand, and when I spray it 19 times in the morning it makes my apartment smell like the beach.
It’s the first time in my adult life—or the four years since I’ve lived in New York—that I’m not cat-called, whistled at, or followed down the block by men,cheap mulberry bags, which is actually great. It might sound melodramatic to say it’s changed my life, cutting off about seven inches of hair—but it has.
