I believe social media (Facebook, Twitter,
office 2007 Standard code, etc.) is replacing blogging as the primary way web users share links. Most social media links are no-followed and have little or no explanation surrounding the link to add context. These kinds of links are not as strong of a signal as a 1-2 paragraph blog post that links to a great article or piece of content. Continued

For decades, small businesses have been naming themselves “A1 This” or “AAA That” because yellow pages and similar directories listed businesses alphabetically. They optimized their company name for the primary marketing vehicle of their time; they wanted to show up first in those listings.
The online equivalent, to a large degree,
