Tissot Nets New Global Superstar Ambassador
Iconic Swiss watch brand Tissot has signed professional basketball player Tony Parker as its new Global Ambassador.
The French sports star will join Tissot's existing high profile ambassador team in endorsing the world's leading brand in the traditional watch market
French basketball player Parker is captain of his country's national basketball team, which he led to a bronze medal in the 2005 European Championships, and also plays for NBA's San Antonio Spurs. His outstanding NBA track record comprises a trio of NBA Champion titles from 2003, 2005 and 2007, and he has also been an NBA All Star on three occasions.
In 2007, Parker was honoured as the MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the NBA finals; as the first foreign-born player to achieve this accolade, his international recognition as a European player mirrors the global positioning of the Tissot brand.
At Parker's contract signing, which took place at the watch manufacturer's new store on the Champs-Elysées, Tissot President François Thiébaud commented, "We are honoured to have Tony Parker in the international Tissot ambassador team. His natural talent and focused determination are deeply impressive and our partnership will help spread his inspirational qualities around the world."
As Official Timekeeper of FIBA (International Basketball Federation), Tissot shares its new ambassador's dedication to performance and the sport of basketball itself. In Tissot's first year of collaboration with FIBA, the Swiss brand was official timekeeper for Poland's 2009 EuroBasket competition. This year, Tissot has performed the same role at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for men in Turkey and for women in the Czech Republic.
Tissot is one of the watch world's most prestigious brands, embodying over 150 years of Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship. Tissot's reputation as ‘Innovators by Tradition' continues to be relevant today, with exciting new models produced every year.
