That was flawed thinking, because once I became impatient with my own procrastination, I popped the size 12 neutral insoles into my old shoes they felt like new again.
They fit nice and snug, just like a new pair and I decided to give them a test run at the Fit2Run 4-miler at Okeeheelee Park in suburban West Palm Beach.
They felt great! My pace was slower than what I wanted, but that had more to do with it being my first run following a culinary-indulgent vacation than it did the insoles.
I took them out again the next day for one of my longer Sunday runs in Western Lake Worth and Boynton Beach. I went the rest of the day without throbbing knees so I’m convinced: It’s the insoles. I’ll use them until I get my new pair and then I’ll stick them in those, too.
Sof Sole Fit Lightweight Performance Insoles are for men and women and the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $39. The company’s headquarters is in North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park. They come in Low Arch, Neutral Arch and High Arch ranging from 2.8 cm to 3.3 cm.
The company line: The insoles are designed to work with different arch types “to provide athletes a more customized insole fit to allow for the best performance based on individual foot type.” Worked for me.
Retailers that sell the insoles will have Sof Sole Fit ID Pads to take thermal impressions of customers’ feet to determine which type of arch they need.
