Athletic vendors persist to churn out limited-edition runs of new and retro sneaker styles as hasty as the trendy boutiques that carry them are popping up. But just beneath the hype, there is a group of collectors who have been in adore with sneakers for at a time they be able to,0 remember, and will still be in love long after the trend has faded.
Footwear News talked with five bona fide sneaker collectors who take their avocation so seriously that they actively endow to sneaker culture via magazines, Websites and sneaker-themed memorabilia. Some have even consulted for important athletic shoe vendors. They said they love sneakers, but hate the current hype and wish that the multitudes who have been buying the shoes as mainstream would just push on to the next big object.

"If you’re a collector who likes these styles,Christian Shoes, it’s bad, because you have reselling vultures literally hiring folk to wait in line 36 hours for sneakers. But while everyone’s [in line], I’m at one undisclosed, 70-year-old, mom-and-pop shop buying vintage for low. I’m too opposed to buying collectibles that are purposefully restricted, simply for the sake of [collecting]. I consider that’s phony."

Also, putting a limited label on something ordinarily drives up the hype after it, and there’s been too many finite shoes lately."

On the current sneaker craze: "Insane. I think there are a lot of speculators at the moment, fair hoping to be able to buy and resell pairs to make some greenbacks. That ends up leading companies to producing extra limited shoes, because they know they’ll sell out. It’s a vicious cycle."
