Microsoft´s Technical Recognition Awards (an internal awards program) winners were just announced. Bharat Shah, head of the Business Productivity On-line Suite Group and the General Manager for whom I recruit, was honored among the 2010 Outstanding Technical Achievement Award winners. CONGRATS, BHARAT. The annual Technical Recognition Awards program is an opportunity to recognize and acknowledge work that has impacted not only Microsoft,Windows 7 X86, but the software industry and the entire world. Awards are determined by nomination and votes of the Microsoft senior technical community.Bharat and I started working together years ago when he was heading up MSD (Management Services Division in the Server & Tools Group). He and I are back together again in Business Online Services Group (BOSG), still in the revenue generating Server and Tools Division. The work he and his organization are doing is again changing how we think about technology. Services in the Cloud! How about that for the bleeding edge of technology?

It´s crazy to think back to when I first got into the technology world. Before working in recruiting, I was a tech support engineer and had to scramble to clear very basic hurdles like dial-up connections…ugh. I also supported desktops that were scattered over nine different locations while setting up a cool new function for that company called a HELP DESK (haha).

These days, I always take time to evaluate how far we´ve come. New technology dazzles my mind and makes my life so much easier, more efficient and connects me to the entire world. AND I make sure to appreciate the achievements of people like Bharat and the incredible groups I now support.

Microsoft is blazing paths that just 10 years ago seemed inconceivable. We are solving some of the world’s toughest problems from enterprise to single users. I am so pleased to be part of the team and just want to say congratulations to Bharat and all others honored by the Technical Recognition Awards.
