Mets Still Without Wagner, Willing to Ignore Sample Size
The Mets were hoping to obtain harmed closer Billy Wagner behind this week. Unfortunately, he reported stiffness and pain in his shoulder after darting off the mound in Pittsburgh this weekend, pushing his return back to ... well, no an knows. All anybody knows as sure is namely he's no coming off the DL
today.
But loosen, Mets fans,
hermes picotin! To bolster the bullpen, the front bureau picked up Luis Ayala from Nationals! Jerry Manuel sounds amused. From Anthony Rieber of Newsday:
"The two innings emerge from that we faced him,
Discount Hogan Shoes, he threw strikes, attacked the hitters,
MBT Outlet," manager Jerry Manuel said. "I variety of expect the same entity."
Umm ... Jerry? Are you actually elated to elect up the Nationals' scraps? Can 2 nice innings last week outweigh the 1-8 record and 5.77 ERA (6.97 since the All-Star wreck) he's posted over 57 innings the entire season?
When told of Ayala's log and ERA, Manuel said: "Oh, man."
That's right,
asics tiger, folks The power of sample size strikes anew. Sarcasm aside, no one expects Ayala to be a savior -- all he price the Mets was the infamous Player to Be Named,
bose on earphone, whom Reiber outs for the exceedingly expendable Anderson Hernandez, who's currently hitting .203 for Triple-A New Orleans. If Ayala tin simply eat a handful of innings and absorb his midnight hammering without giving up the lead, the trade ambition be value it.

VMy colleague Pat Lackey had some choice words for the WBC when Sizemore withdrew, claiming that not all the players take it seriously, which in turn affects the fans' interest level. And back in December, Matt Snyder took a stab at who would make up our ideal U.S. roster. Now it's time to take a turn at naming which players, like Sizemore, we're going to miss watching in this tournament.
