As it turned out, it was her own style that led to her success. "When I showed buyers,fitch abercrombie, they said 'Why don't you design bags like you dress. Design a bag like you'd carry, then we'll buy,'." So she did.
"I always wanted to be part of the fashion business but could never see how to get there. There was just this big void. Then it was just trial and error," the designer explained at a special UK Fashion and Textile Association talk - celebrating her work - this month. "I had an idea. I'd been working in video production but still wanted to be in fashion. My best friend was setting up a new?Barneys store, so used me as an unofficial scout."
Spurred on by the idea of "making a fortune" so she didn't have to work, Guinness' first trial was a feminine twist on the Filofax. "I wanted to take the Filofax and make it into a feminine briefcase - with bright lining. Colour was radical in handbag design at the time."

Today I am leaving for a two week vacation to Europe. My long lost college roommate and I are going to be hitting up Spain and Italy and in Italy Vlad will be meeting up with us for a Gondola ride or two!
