INDIANAPOLIS – The agent Scott Boras met with reporters on Wednesday and took several questions on how the now-completed Curtis Granderson trade affects Johnny Damon. Naturally, perhaps,
Cheap 2011 New Arrival, Boras contended that having Granderson makes it more important to bring back Damon.
Here’s some of that Q & A.
Q.
Does the Granderson trade affect Damon coming back to the Yankees?
A.
Well,
Kansas City Royals Hats sale, the Yankees have made some really great strategic moves of late to make their team even stronger. They were talking about the need for 25 home runs and the need to replace a component they got from their DH last year and they did that by adding a centerfielder,
Racing Hats, so that allows the strength of the upper tier of the lineup,
Baltimore Orioles Hats, the Jeters, the Damons, to be all the more important to set the table and provide that component where players are in position to score runs for those bats. Obviously Granderson’s strengths are his defense, his power,
cheap Cincinnati Reds Hats, his left-handed power. But his detriments are he’s clearly not a No. 2 hitter and with his power comes –- as most power hitters -– comes the strikeouts. His skill set, his strengths,
cheap Kansas City Royals Hats, are obviously not fit in that phase of the lineup.
Q.
Don’t you think it diminishes the chances for Damon to return?
A.
No, I think it dramatically enhances the abilities of the Yankees to have those two players on this team together.
Q.
Based on comments,
Cheap NFL Hats, Damon appears unwilling to take less to stay with the Yankees. Do you feel that’s important?
A.
Well, I think the fairness values of players –- chronological age seems to be a huge issue for the media with Johnny Damon. I look more to the body of most current performance, the performance that he’s had over a three-, four-year period. I look at those metrics because I can cite you many players that perform at very high levels at 38 to 42, better than players at 30 to 34. So it really depends on the individual. In Johnny’s case, his production, his body type,
San Francisco Giants Hats, who he is as an athlete, he is not measured by the customary gauge of a player.
Boras had one more comment on Damon’s career in Boston and New York: “I think Johnny had a great run in both cities. Very happy in Boston. He’s been really happy playing in New York. He’s told everyone that he enjoys being a Yankee. He said when he came to Boston the day that he arrived we’re going to win a world championship and they did. He said the same thing in New York. So I think the future employers,
San Diego Padres Hats, I’d be listening to Johnny Damon quite a bit.”
