Loughner has alleged no guilty to allied charges stemming from the shooting that wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 12 others and killed six people.
Loughner will spend up to four months at the facility. A judge ruled Wednesday that the 22-year-old was mentally unfit to support his attorneys in safeguarding him.
Mental health experts who examined Loughner at the same Missouri facility in March and April had concluded he suffers from schizophrenia.
