We first featured these fabulous 50s style dresses back in February (click here to read the post), and it has proved to be one of our most popular posts on the blog EVER. It’s no surprising of course that you readers would fall head over heals for these affordable killer 50s dresses. I’m a huge fan of the Oh My Honey collection – there’s something about those swinging rock n roll dresses and petticoats that I just love. Makes me think of red lipstick,
ghd France, Happy Days and jukeboxes! Imagine my delight then when Louise of Oh My Honey said she wanted to be a sponsor! For the full collection check out the 50s dress aisle of our Fifties Wedding Shop or visit the Oh My Honey website.
Big changes are happening soon for Oh My Honey too,
hair straighteners uk, when Louise will be launching a collection of 1950s inspired wedding dresses. If you can’t wait for that though, Louise also offers a bespoke service and will custom-make your 50s dress just the way you want it with whatever fabric you like.
Today on the blog then I am giving Oh My Honey a very warm welcome as a very special sponsor, and we meet the lady behind the label…
When & why did you set up your business?
Although vintage clothes are fantastic, I often found it very difficult to find something from the 50’s that fits the modern woman’s shape. I wanted to design affordable flattering dresses for the contemporary woman, based on vintage styles. In 2009 I set up my business with this idea in mind.
Can you tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind your designs/products?
I love mixing elements of historical dress with modern fashions, and the 1950’s have always been my favourite era. I love the glamour and fun of the styles from this decade, and I think that the modern-day woman can still make this retro style her own.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the photos my customers send to me of themselves in their new dresses, it is so great to see them come to life and hearing how many compliments they have got wearing an Oh My Honey dress.
What is your one tip for brides-t0-be?
To remember that no matter what happens you will be the most beautiful woman in the room, so smile and enjoy your special day with your husband to be!
Makes you want to get your dancing shoes on, eh?
