For those of you who manage your organization’s desktops utilizing Windows Server Update Providers (WSUS) Net Explorer eight is going to be manufactured obtainable by way of this technology starting up August 25, 2009. Internet Explorer 8 will probably be manufactured obtainable as an “Update rollup” and will probably be applicable to all supported languages.
Is my organization affected?
If your organization uses WSUS and has it configured to auto-approve Update rollup packages,
Office 2010, upon acceptance of the Internet Explorer eight End User License Agreement (EULA) by the WSUS administrator, World wide web Explorer 8 will install automatically on computers running World wide web Explorer 6 or 7 on supported operating systems.
What should I do if I auto-approve Update rollups but want to control when I deploy Web Explorer eight?
To give you control over how and when Net Explorer eight is deployed in your environment, perform the following steps:
Before August twenty five,
Office 2010, 2009:
Turn off auto-approve for “Update rollup” packages in WSUS,
Windows 7 Home Premium Key, and approve the updates manually. Note: Even if Auto-Approve for “Update rollup” is on, you will still be required to approve the Internet Explorer 8 EULA before Net Explorer eight is deployed to downstream clients.
After August twenty five,
Windows 7 Professional, 2009:
Synchronize your WSUS server. Decline the Net Explorer 8 update packages. If you typically auto-approve update rollup packages,
Genuine Office 2007, you can re-enable automatic approval for “Update rollups.”
What other World wide web Explorer eight updates will probably be offered via WSUS?
Cumulative security updates for Internet Explorer 8 and Web Explorer eight Compatibility View List updates will also be released via WSUS as they become obtainable.
