Well, just to name a few for starters, players can perform jumping jacks, push ups, crunches, running drills, and stretches (ballistic and static). Coaches may defer on their approach to warm ups, but as long as it meets the goals of warming up the player's muscles, raising their heart rate, and increasing their body temperature, it will prepare the player for action.
Some teams may get their football equipment by sponsorships from schools, businesses, or leagues. Having the right equipment is vital to being as safe as possible when your kid is playing football. As in some of my past posts, the following items are essential in providing the utmost safety:
At practice or a game, players must warm up their muscles, raise their heart rate, and increase their body temperature. It helps the players' bodies prepare for the physicality of the game of football. Warm ups should be no longer than 30 minutes or so. What should some of the exercises be?
The Helmet, the shoulder pads, the thigh pads, the knee pads, the gloves, the mouth piece, the shoe or cleats, and the hip pads are all necessary in the protection of the player.
The current challenges we face are an opportunity for us all to reflect on this question and to realign our lives to that which brings the greatest love, joy, passion and peace for ourselves and others. It is an opportunity to ensure we are being true to ourselves for as William Shakespeare's Hamlet so eloquently reminds us "To Thine Ownself be True. And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou can not then be false to any man". So lets come back to reflecting on the three patterns of identity mentioned above.Suppose my identity is based on any or all of the above three patterns - what I'm doing - my job, what I have - property, shares, cars, family or what others think of me - "he's really achieved so much, he's great!".
Injuries are part of the game. I can't stress enough for parents to obtain the proper football equipment. If your child gets injured in a game, take them out. Depending on the severity of the injury, take them for a checkup/physical by your doctor. If a player continues to play with an injury, in most cases, it will aggravate it and will become worse. Parents must understand this and encourage the player to resist the urge of player or face worsening their injury.
3. I am what others think of me - again this is quite a common identity and "keeping up with the jones's" is based on this one as is the glorification of "being famous" and "being a socialite". If I believe in this identity I want everyone to think well of me and will do whatever I can to ensure this happens - I tell half truths or even lies so that I will be liked and look good, I will dress as all the "good people" dress.Leo Tolstoy, the famous Russian author, wrote a very thought provoking story about a man called Ivan Ilych , a self proclaimed "social climber" who lived in Tsarist Russia. Ivan is suddenly struck by a terminal illness, which offers him time to reflect on his life and he asks himself - "what if my whole life has been wrong?". The only time Ivan could remember being true to himself is when he was a child!
Teamwork is a great way for children to build their confidence and physicality level while playing youth football. The physical challenges may be tough and some parents tend to worry about their kids. I must say, kids do get injured while playing football. Buying the proper football equipment may reduce these injuries and also the stress level of the parent.
Parents must have some understanding of the game rules in football. It will help the player to be more complete and better player. Parents can diffuse any situation that may arise if there is a conflict that the player themselves may not understand.
Before coming out to the field, players must have their "fuel" in place. Players must provide their bodies with enough carbohydrates in order to get the energy it needs for this rigorous sport. A carbohydrate such as whole wheat pasta is great! This is not really a blog about nutrition, so I will keep it to just that suggestion. You are more than welcome to research what the best nutrition is for your child to eat before a practice or a game.
