in addition to this in the year 1914, mother’s day was proclaimed officially as a national holiday by president woodrow wilson. this was decided to be conduced on the second sunday in the month of may.
however, the accomplishment of jarvis turned to be bitter and was seen as disturbing the peace. she stated that she wanted this day not to make it any business, but to be considered as a sentiment day.

mother’s day dates have been changed many times, and finally it is declared on may 8th. this practice is followed in india as well recently and it has become very much an integral part of the culture.
the indians celebrate mother’s day so that they can honor and display the appreciation for the blood and flesh mother who stood during thick and thin times. mother’s day does not mean that a person has to shower costly gifts on her.
it is more than enough if her children call her on that day and thank her for all that she did. the reminiscences of childhood can be illustrated. sending a card with special words is also appropriate. taking her out for a dinner and a dance will make her feel the best.
