Change city
For some time now the ancient Roman Coliseum has been deteriorating due to old age and in part due to an underground metro in its proximity whose vibrations cause it to crumble even further. Due to funding shortages, the city of Rome had thus far not been able to undertake the restoration project of its' greatest landmark and tourist attraction. The Coliseum brings about six million visitors a year into its city.
Finally, the city of Rome has now begun a major project consisting of only private funding (the largest of its kind) and estimated at 25 million Euros ($34 m) in order to restore this historic landmark.
Restoration can finally begin thanks to a generous donor who according to BBC stated that this historic monument represents Italy just how his shoe company represents Italy. Therefore,
Tod's Women's shoes, Diego Della Valle, the founder of Tod's shoe company, has sponsored this vast restoration project.
This generous owner hopes that other enterpreneurs will also step in to support this project. Restorations are expected to take a little over two years, and it will remain open to visitors throughout the process.
So, if you are a shoe lover and looking for the perfect excuse to not only buy another elegant pair to add to your collection - purchase a pair from Tod's shoe company and become a part of the rebuilding of one of the world's most significant ancient structure's restoration.
