"PEOPLE think I've ridden this wave because I'm mates with celebs, but just ask yourself, why are they wearing it?" asks Matthew Williamson. "Call me crazy, but could it possibly be because they like it?" It certainly seems that way. Ever since Jade Jagger and Kate Moss took to the catwalk for Williamson's 1997 debut show,
Electric Angels,
womens peak jacket, the Manchester-born designer was catapulted to the forefront of the British fashion scene - and has remained there since. "Matthew has always been so important as a designer because of his expressive nature,
tods mens," says Jagger. "He allows women to feel sensual, natural and light. In a time when we can feel so restricted,
hogan on line, this is such an appealing and bohemian quality." Williamson admits his guardedness about his whimsical design signature stems from his time as a student at Central Saint Martins. "What I was doing wasn't suited to their aesthetic," he tells
Style magazine. "I wasn't inspired by lunatic asylums or anything like that." Yet it's impossible to overlook the success his unorthadox-orthadox approach to fashion has brought him. Last week, the Matthew Williamson brand was given a boost as new investor TSM Capital bought a minority stake in the label,
ghd straighteners, and - with his upcoming spring/summer show being staged in London, followed by a retrospective exhibition to mark his ten-year anniversary in the industry - 2007 is proving something of a stand-out year for Mr Williamson. (September 3 2007, AM)

Today I am leaving for a two week vacation to Europe. My long lost college roommate and I are going to be hitting up Spain and Italy and in Italy Vlad will be meeting up with us for a Gondola ride or two! I am super excited for this vacation and this time will actually be vacationing. We are lucky enough to have someone who will write posts for me while I am gone, Nerdphanie! You all remember her as a guest blogger! Now she is signed on as a two week blogger to fill my spot. She will bring you lots of new bags and goodies to look at. I will be posting sporadically, but not my usual four or five posts a day
