"It may have been ice cold outside this weekend, but the Bubble tradeshow at the Design Centre was 'hot to trot' exhibiting a seemingly never-ending array of childrenswear brands for autumn winter 2011/2012. The ever-popular tradeshow has identified four key trends for next season entitled; polar expedition (multiple layers and faux fur trims), cloud atlas (weather inspired, sunshine and cloudy colours), Norwegian wood (natural colours and animal prints) and correspondent (for the mini-adventurer).
We spotted the trends on plenty of the stands, noticing lots of faux fur pom-poms at No Added Sugar,
Jeep 休闲鞋, dungarees at Little Duckling, wide collars and waist detail on coats at K for Keeps and sunshine yellows at Sophie & Bonne. Aravore has some amazing Japanese inspired dresses and blouses made in part with 1930s silks; a real highlight of the show.
The Belle & Boo stand was as delightful as always; we loved the dainty designs and the addition of illustrated packing tape! (see image in 'Bubble, part two'). Hucklebones also continue to impress us with their chic range of vintage inspired designs; look out for the '20s-esque cloche hat.
Up and coming labels that caught our eye this season included the eco-friendly Re-jigged (cute dungarees), the brilliant Poppy & Fred (a children's story book with every cotton dress), Pale Cloud (simple and chic) and Little Esop (a fun and funky New York brand).
In other fashion news from the show; colourful Devon-based label Frugi will be extending their age range to eight starting from this spring summer season. Also Bonnie Baby will be launching a premium range of silk, heather coloured clothing - dresses, skirts and jackets decorated with an umbrella pattern,
