As expected, Lakers guard Shannon Brown opted out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent.

Zoom Kobe VII (7), leaving approximately $2.4 million on the table. He is seeking a multi-year deal in free agency. He said the decision to leave the Lakers wasn’t easy.
“I had to weigh every option,” Brown told ESPN.com “It was on my mind every day.”

Brown could return to the Lakers,
Kobe V, but the team selected two guards — Darius Morris and Andrew Goudelock — in the recently completed draft in anticipation of the 6-foot-4 guard opting out.
Brown averaged 7.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.7 minutes with the Lakers and 8.9 points, 1.19 rebounds and 1.2 assists this past season.
